The Social Cooperative “ La Prateria “ was founded in 1994
on the initiative of the Lions Club of Omegna together with
other Clubs of the zone with the contribution of the
Lions
108 Ia1 District and the collaboration of a group of volunteers
as a working insertion centre for disabled people. The seat of “ La
Prateria “ in Regione Nosere in Domodossola, was obtained from the Mountain
Community in commodate.
It was a degraded and abandoned area that, after a recovered operation,
was used for agricultural activities and for riding school and horse racing
for disabled. At “ La Prateria “ there are cultivations in the open field,
two greenhouses and a big kitchen to produce vegetables in oil pickles and
jam. At “La Prateria “ there are some disabled who are employed and paid as
worker members helped by numerous volunteer members. From 1999 there has
been a project that wants to create an equipped area to
offer the disabled the opportunity to have recreational, sporting
activities in a place also open to schools and other associations.
